“I started as a Nurses Aid 23 years ago after being a family caregiver. Growing up, my family cared for my Grandmother, whom we called Nana. She needed assistance with ADL’s and had short-term and long-term memory loss. One of my greatest gifts in life was spending time with her. She was ornery and funny, and we loved her! We were so lucky to have had the option to care for her at home, and that the care was provided by family only. This is not the option for many families. When I became a licensed caregiver (NAC), I tried several different care settings. I worked in a nursing home for 5 years, then moved on to assisted living facilities, hospitals, and home care, and opened an adult family home. I was working in-home care while I was finishing my bachelor’s degree in business. DCS was started because I was referred to clients’ friends and family to care for their loved ones as well. Through my years in caregiving, I have met some amazing caregivers, and we started this very special care team together. We love what we do, and as a result, we do it very well!”
